Church hall, Stanion Methodist Church, Chapel Lane, Stanion, near Corby

The Stanion group of therapists are having a talk on the same night on Iridology, so we thought we would join them on this occasion.
This meeting is held in the church hall, Stanion Methodist Church, Chapel Lane, Stanion, near Corby. Stanion is situated on the A43 A14 roads near Corby and is a small community.
The meeting starts at 7.30 pm and a charge of £3 is levied which includes refreshments.

Christine Gould, an International Medium spoke to us about CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. She also told us about other therapies she uses such as Socratic Dialogue. A very interesting evening.

The meeting was held at Roz Crampton's therapy room in Northampton. (Cy-n-ra, 258 Kettering Road Northampton, NN2 7DT. Roz's tel no is 01604 721881) The sound therapy room is built at the back of Roz's home and we experienced a brilliant sound bath and played drums.

Wednesday 21st May 2008

Wendy Boulton gave us a talk on Theraplay. This therapy is structured for children and parents and its goal is to enhance attachment, self esteem, trust in others and joyful engagement. Children are referred for a wide range of problems including withdrawn or depressed behaviour, veractive aggressive behaviour, temper tantrums, phobias, and difficulty in socialisging and making friends. If you missed this meeting you missed the sweets and the mock snowball fight :-)

8th March International Women's Day
At the Pemberton Centre in Rushden. The event ran from 10.00am to 4.00pm, and the group was based in the bar area of the centre.

We gave free tasters as it was a charity event. A good steady stream of ladies took advantage of the free tasters and found out about our group

Launch Event in Towcester - Saturday 23rd Feb 2008
An assortment of our therapists gave free taster sessions at our Launch event in Towcester
The venue was the Town Hall. A quiet afternoon - but with 6 therapists we had just about enough people through the doors to keep us all busy. Thanks to Jean Pugh, Alison Rowlands, Pat Smart, Julie Leatherland, Sue Martin and Janet Flowers for giving up their Saturday afternoon to help spead the news about Shires Holistics and Completmentary Therapies :-)

Group Meeting - Wednesday 30th January 7.30 to 9.30 pm at the Melton Community Centre, Melton Street, Kettering NN16 9DS

Our next meeting was planned for Wednesday 16th January, but this date clashed with the Stanion Group meeting, so we have changed ours to Wednesday 30th January from 7.30 to 9.30 pm at the Melton Community Centre, Melton Street, Kettering NN16 9DS (the centre is situated at the end of Melton Street on the corner of Cross Street).

Our speaker was Julie Leatherland who talked to us about Hypnocolour. Hypnocolour uses the proven therapies of hypnotherapy, EFT relaxation, colour breathing colour visualisation, meditation techniques colour therapy and positive affirmations.

Anniversary Event at Balance Studio 29th September 2007

The First Anniversary Celebration on 29th September at The Balance Studio in Northampton was well attended with 9 of our members offering 30 minute taster sessions. Money raised from these tasters will be donated to a charity.

After the public event we had a members only party with assorted nibbles to celebrate one whole year!

Thanks to Kerry for the loan of a venue with a truely relaxing atmosphere and further thanks to all the therapists who gave their time and energy for free.

Group Meeting - Tuesday 27th March 2007

The meeting at the Friends Meeting House, Wellington Street, Northampton was well attended.

For this meeting, we were very fortunate and priviledged to have Michael Markham, a very well known businessman in Northamptonshire giving us a presentation on motivation, network marketing and differentiating marketing.

Michael give us a very entertaining and inspirational talk, providing lots of useful information and tips to use in promoting our businesses. The time just flew by and it was lucky that we had the keys to lock up - as we easily overran our end time.

If you missing this talk but get a chance to hear Michael speak in the future it's well worth going to see him.

Below is a short biography of Michael.

Michael spent most of his youth in and out of care, and foster homes, until joining the Army in 1962 at the age of 15 years. From 1965 until 1976 he toured the world with the Army developing military airbases (and then subsequently dismantling them.)

He left the Army in 1976 and teamed up with Stanair Industrial Door Services Ltd., a small predominantly manufacturing company that had been trading since August 1974. Michael moved to Kettering in 1978, where Stanair now have their head office with Service Centres throughout the region.

Michael has been involved with many other businesses on his way to his current success.

Stanair have numerous awards and accreditations for business excellence, including;

Age Positive Champions
Beacon Organisation Status

They have a strong training background, writing their own training courses for their Engineers when no external qualifications existed. Winning “The National Training Award” in 2002

These have largely been adopted by the industry as a whole and are incorporated in the industry NVQ’s which Michael was very instrumental in producing.

June 22nd. 2004 - he attended Downing Street for one of his companies, Stanair Industrial Door Services Ltd., to be recognised as “Age Positive Champions”
July 14th. 2006 - he attended Buckingham Palace in recognition of his work with The Prince’s Trust.

Age Concern ran this event and several members of Shires Holistics attended to give talks and free tasters.

All proceeds from the event went towards the Age Concern New Home Appeal.

Thanks to Ulrike Bluemel who kindly stepped in at the last moment. Her talk on Equine/Animal massage and spinal manipulation was very informative and instructive. I think that we'll all look at animals in a new light.

Members of Shires Holistics attended this event and offered taster sessions - perhaps next year we'll have to wear wings and halos!

The Launch of the Group and Directory took place on Saturday 23rd September 2006 in the presence of The Mayor and Mayoress of Wellingborough at The Castle, Castle Way, Wellingborough

We offered free taster sessions in Reflexology, Crystal Healing,
Reiki, Indian Head Massage, Neck and Shoulder massage and EFT

A good number of people came to see what the group is about, to collect a copy of the directory and to try the taster sessions and free drinks

The Shires Group of Holistic Practitioners also attended the Holistic Therapy Event at the Sixfields Stadium in Northampton on Sunday 24th September 2006.

We handed out copies of the Directory to people attending the event and spoke to many of the therapists on the other stalls to see if they would be interested in becoming members.

Taster sessions were offered at £5 for 15 minute sessions.

There was a good level of interest in who we are and what we do.
